A CONSIDERED APPROACH
Built around the way
you’ll use it.
Print readiness depends on the production method. Bleed, safe areas, resolution and color setup should match the printer’s brief. Provide those specifications so the prepared artwork has a clear target.
01
Finished dimensions
Include final size, bleed and safe area requirements.
02
Production method
Specify screen print, digital print, heat transfer or another output.
03
File checks
Confirm fonts, linked images and export requirements with the production partner.
BEFORE YOU START
A clearer brief.
A better starting point.
Use your clearest source artwork. Include the finished size, application and required date. Confirm price, deliverables and timing before placing an order.

KNOW YOUR OPTIONS
Small choices.
A different finished result.
These decisions help define the project before the artwork or production plan is approved.
Print Ready Files: decisions to confirm
| Decision | What to specify | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Bleed and safe area | Use the measurements supplied by the printer. | Bleed is not interchangeable with the final trim size. |
| Fonts and images | Confirm whether to outline fonts or supply permitted font files and linked assets. | Missing assets can change a file when opened elsewhere. |
| Color and export settings | Follow the production partner’s specified workflow. | An export that opens correctly is not automatically ready for every print method. |

ABOUT THIS SERVICE
Print Ready Files
questions, answered.
More questions about your design? Include the specific application and your artwork when you prepare your brief.
Is PDF always print-ready?
No. A PDF can still have incorrect dimensions, missing bleed or unsuitable image quality. It must be checked against the intended printer’s requirements.
Should I send the print supplier’s specification sheet?
Yes. It provides a clear reference for file format, size, color setup and finishing details.
Which delivery format should I request?
Use the format specified by the print or production partner. Explain whether they need editable artwork, outlined text, a transparent background or a specific color setup.
What counts as a change in scope?
A new composition, additional illustration, changed wording or a different production requirement may change the work. Define revisions and deliverables in the project agreement.
